All Ogden Valley mayoral and city council candidates, as well as the public, are invited to join a Candidate Briefing on June 17 th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 PM, presented by the volunteers of the Valley Startup Transition Team. The briefing will focus on the municipal services that must be provided starting January 5 and the volunteer work that has been done to date to make that possible. The briefing will be held via Zoom to accommodate travel and vacation schedules.
The Candidate Briefing has three goals:
- Help candidates understand the requirements for city operations under Utah law and common municipal practices.
- Update the candidates and public on the volunteer work done to date and the work that remains.
- Provide opportunities for candidates to ask questions, provide feedback, make suggestions, and guide the teams’ remaining work.
All candidates are encouraged to participate in the work of the Transition Team if they are not already volunteering. To kick-start their engagement with the transition work, the candidates’ microphones will be open throughout the June 17 briefing so they can fully participate with questions and suggestions. The public will be allowed to post messages in chat.
“The Transition Team is not just working to serve our new city. It’s really working to prepare the way for the candidates and eventual elected officials. We view the candidates as both our customers and colleagues in preparing for a successful startup,” said Angela Dean, Transition Team Project Coordinator. “We hope to cut through the advance work it will take and provide the elected officials with options and solutions, shaped by both the candidates and the community at large.” Dean, an architect and Liberty resident, also emphasized that the volunteer work product is not owned by any special group or individual but is designed to be shared with all interested in a successful city launch. All are invited to join and share their ideas. To involve as many people as possible, the Ogden Valley Startup group is conducting the meeting as a virtual Zoom meeting so that candidates and citizens can join from anywhere.
